1.What is the Tooth Whitening?

The Tooth Whitening treatment is the method of whitening the teeth without removing or damaging the teeth discolored by several reasons. For those discolored parts which are not cleaned by the scaling treatment, the method of using various teeth-bleaching materials and special beams is used to recover the original color of each tooth or make the color of each tooth brighter. The safety standard of such a method has been proved. The method of treatment is varied according to the cause or level of the discoloration. It is hard to apply the bleaching treatment to the mottled teeth which have weak whitened surfaces. However, it is possible to apply the bleaching treatment for the teeth discolored by various other reasons.

2.Kinds of Tooth Whitening
*Home Bleaching: Tray System

First of all, it is necessary to make a tray(a structure made in the shape of the teeth) whose shape matches the teeth at the dental clinic. By applying special medicines on the tray, it needs to be kept on the teeth in the mouth for several hours. The tray is often kept in the mouth, while the patient sleeps. Generally, it is kept once or twice a day with one time of 30 to 60 minutes. The treatment usually takes two to six weeks. The result is usually satisfactory. However, the special medicines applied on the tray sometimes come out of the tray and influences the gum, providing the patient with a uncomfortable feeling.

*In-office Bleaching: In-hospital Bleaching Treatment

The bleaching process is carried out according to the diagnosis made by the doctor for the state of each patient. At this time, several devices are used to increase the bleaching effect and keep it for a long time. Such representative devices as LED, halogen, plasma and laser are used. The surgery time is about one hour, showing an excellent bleaching effect that can be kept for more than two years(when applied with the home bleaching treatment).

Brushing and Fng - The most important thing you can do for your teeth is what you do at home. Daily care helps kill bacteria and control plaque.

Regular Checkups - Dental care at home isn't enough. Regular office visits, including an exam, x-rays and cleaning, can help you avoid conditions like tooth decay and gum disease.

Gingivitis - The earliest form of gum disease that affects 50%~80% of Americans. And if left untreated, it can cause more serious health problems.
